In the Old Testament God communicates in many different ways. This is not a complete list but gives many different examples.
| 1. Genesis 1 - 2 | God spoke in creation, showing the power of the spoken word. He commanded Adam in relation to his role and responsibilities. |
| 2. Genesis 3 | God was heard by Adam and Eve and conversed with them after their disobedience. |
| 3. Genesis 22 v. 1 | Spoke to Abraham giving instructions |
| 4. Genesis 24 v. 12 - 14, 26 - 27 | Answered prayer, guidance |

God continued to speak in the early church. Acts records many instances.

Revelation
| Revelation 1 v. 1 - 3 | The whole book is a revelation of Jesus Christ given by God to show his servants what was going to happen. He sent an angel to John who was told to record everything he saw - that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. There is promised blessing to those who read the words of the prophecy, for those who hear it and those who take to heart what is written in it. |
